This is for the S2 under Gingerbread, so not sure if its the same. Try going into settings/wireless & network/USB utilities.

Tap on the icon, then connect the USB cable. What this does is to connect the phone to the PC like a thumbdrive (USB mass storage), and then you can browse and do what ever you need through the PC.
