Unhappy #0011# generates error message on my phone

Is yours a US version of the Galaxy S III? I ask, because I saw the same recommendationoM on a UK forum. It seems to work for the international build, but on my AT&T version I get an error message: "Connection problem or invalid MMI code." Nothing worked for me, and I was about to return the phone until I accepted the AT&T download. Just saw Leo Laporte bad-mouthing the update on TWiG (or one of his other shows). Unfortunately I wasn't watching live or I would have corrected him.

BTW, I recently saw a news item from AT&T saying that it did NOT intend to disable local search, and that this capability will be reinstated soon.
