If you're on the July 7 build, I doubt that there were any wifi fixes since then.

You might install Wifi Analyzer to see if you have any competition on or near the channel you're using. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&

Also, turning off wireless-n might improve your experience as well.
