To be honest, the procedure worked for the i9000 Galaxy S because it had a couple of security flaws that bypassed the pattern lock, PIN request and any other measures in place just by flashing a new firmware.
Your S 3 has obviously addressed that flaw to prevent a stolen phone being used by the thief. If that's the case then your only option is to take the phone to a Samsung Service center with proof of ownership and they should be able to help you out.
