It's clear during production there are a lot that got out the door without being QC'd. There's no way of telling how many faulty batches were produced before it was caught.

True that...The main thing to remember is that all manufacturers have issues with problems that arise in new products. Its pretty common that most new products always have build quality issues. That goes for the big players as well...HTC, Samsung, Moto, LG, and even Apple...Its just the way it is.
Overall I am impressed by what ASUS did for a $200 tablet, and issues like this, while annoying, can happen with a $500-700 tablet from any other manufacturer.
