I read the majority of these apps and I am very satisfied with the ones I have tried, so THANKS for the posts. I have a couple to add myself that I find helpful if not awesome.
Google Voice - the official google voice app for Android phones. I use it because I now have a registered number AND my Verizon number and its free visual voicemail (verizon makes you pay monthly for theirs). Right now Google Voice is by subscription only but it will become mainstream soon enough. It is totally worth it!
Handcent SMS - is a GODSEND for messageing (SMS and MMS). It is full customizable with downloadable themes as well.
eBuddy - My personal favorite IM app. It integrates all of the popular (and some underground) IM programs - MSN, GChat, AIM, Facebook, Yahoo, Hyves and ICQ.
Seesmic - My personal favorite Twitter app. Nuff said
Last.fm - Pretty much like Pandora, but the widget for Last.fm is the best I've seen. Last.fm is a little behind pandora but I have it linked to my Xbox Live account and I am a fan of the integration.
WeatherWidget - In my ever searching quest to find the Nexus One Weather app for my Droid, I have come across this one and you can link it to what ever weather service you want (app has to be downloaded i.e. The Weather Channel, AccuWeather...) Four different sizes for your screen and very clean.
Hope this helps! Happy Apping
