As for the Galaxy 10.1 Note Tablet being a direct replacement for a laptop, that is something you must decide. Myself I feel a laptop still has many advantages over the tablet. And both are needed and useful in their own unique ways.

Based on what you do with it; those are things I call the basics, a tablet is a suitable replacement--IF that's all you want to do. Laptops, IMO can never be fully replaced my tablets due to just not being able to do everything on a tablet.
I NEVER see this mentioned in ANY forum post--let's say I want to play one of my FB games. I cant do that on my tablet because of flash. Sure, I can answer my friends game request because those aren't flashed based. On that note I need my laptop for the rest.
My needs are basic like yours so a tablet of lesser quality than the Note would do just fine--but I gotta have the Note.
