I don't know that there is a way to turn off the haptic feedback on the stock keyboard. But I do know that with SwiftKey you can choose the duration- and even turn the feature off in itself.

I would suggest taking the free version for a test drive. I use it on my evo lte, and my Toshiba thrive. Love it.
