I really dont understand your thought process on this. Yes, LTE is able to produce fast and much higher speeds and is obviously the "prestige" but if your getting 1-3Mbps of LTE vs 8-10 Mbps of HSPA, then obviously HSPA is the faster service within that specific area. Speeds are speeds it's just that one is ABLE to be faster than the other. There's no difference in 5Mbps of LTE and 5Mbps of HSPA. It's the same speed. Coverage for those speeds now is a different story.
Now a BIG difference between say 5Mbps LTE vs. 5Mbps HSPA is battery consumption. LTE uses up a lot more battery than non LTE radios even at producing the same speeds. Even 5Mbps LTE uses more battery than 10Mbps HSPA. So in turn you have double the 4G speeds with less the consumption of battery.
But being that LTE can produce faster top end speeds than any other non lte radio, it will become the standard.
