Actually if your phone already has flash then you're fine, and ones with older OS versions should still have it. You just won't get it in newest ones.
We do have a Concord forum here, but as you may have found out it's basically empty. Rooting is device-specific, so it will really depend on someone who knows this device reading this thread. Hopefully someone will know, but I'm afraid I don't.
But I will agree with Alice that actually very few apps require root. Screenshot without root is a pain, I'll grant, and really comprehensive backups do require it, but not much else. And there are other backup apps that can back up a lot of stuff without root (MyBackup Pro comes to mind). Maybe if you ask over in the Android Applications forum people will be able to suggest non-root apps for some of the things you want to do?
