I'm watching the Nat Geo piece on the App Trail. It's still a lifelong goal to hike the whole thing. I've done some of the harder parts in NH, some in MA and some in NC. Can't imagine my wife would ever want to do it (she's not the outdoorsy type). Don't think I could do it alone though. Still always wishing....
Evening Dread, I am an avid hiker and belong to a couple of different hiking clubs. In the summer, I hike about three days a week all over the mountains of North Carolina. I have a couple of friends who have done the AT as a thru hike and others as section hikers. In fact, one friend in her 60's, finished the AT as a section hiker this summer finishing up the last 200 miles. As much as I love hiking, I really love a hot shower and a cozy bed after a long day hiking. You might enjoy the book "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson.
