Rooted my HTC Desire about a month after I got it (gave a little time in case of manufacturing faults before voiding the warranty ). Why? Not the usual reasons people give (mainly storage on the Desire) but because I knew I would have to eventually in order to keep software updated - I never expected more than a year's support from HTC - and if I was going to sooner or later, why make it later?

Running a very stripped-down Gingerbread (ROM < 60MB, credit SUroot ). Occasionally think of trying ICS on the phone again but not convinced it's worth it on this hardware.

Can I imagine using an unrooted phone in future? Not for very long.
