I hate crapple products, but for younger kids they are great. How old are your kids?
One of the main reasons I hate apple products is they are dumbed down, I hate not being in control of my devices.
Since they are dumbed down they are great for "non-techy" people or young children, I gave my little girl my old ipod about 2years ago when she was 4ish and she was easy able to run the device.
