Now I honestly wish we would cancel the gifts between the adults at all the gatherings and just give to the kids. There's nothing anyone could get me that I couldn't go out myself and get if I wanted to. It means something that they care enough to do it, but the gift itself really doesn't bring me any joy now. I'd rather them have saved their money or given it to charity or the kids or something. We don't have kids of our own yet, but the part I love most about Christmas now is seeing our nieces open their presents and helping out my younger brother by getting him some things he can't afford now that he's in college.
