I just got a new Galaxy S3 on Rogers last week and experienced this problem. I found the solution to the problem!
If anyone is using the Rogers Visual Voicemail app, DISABLE IT!
When I got the phone I was using this app, and my phone would be dead in a matter of hours because the app syncs all day. Once I disabled it, I can now get roughly 4 hours of use (without playing games). I am averaging 3 hours and 50 minutes of screen time with under 10 minutes of voice calls, or around 2 hours of screen time with 2 hours of voice calls.
Be careful that once you disable the app it doesn't reactivate automatically, because for me it did. I found two solutions to this problem:
- Do a factory reset of your phone, do not update the visual voicemail app. It will not let you use visual voicemail unless you update the app, and therefore the app will not run (this is what I did).
- Call Rogers and tell them you do not want the visual voicemail service anymore.
One other thing I noticed if you disable the app, is that anytime I turned on GPS it would activate visual voicemail. I found it was best if I just didn't have the most updated version.
Hope this helps!
