Ha, should have read the first comment on DL about the Nova update install:

You can also install the beta right from within Nova launcher.
Just go to Nova settings, scroll to the bottom and tap "Check for updates..." then tap the three dots (top right) and select the beta radio button and also check the box for check automatically. After doing so, a download link for the beta will appear and it will download straight to your phone. Once it's done, just click to install.
