Have they tried clearing the clipboard after upgrading? I had to clear the clipboard after upgrading - otherwise the problem was worse, as you say (rebooting instead of just crashing apps). 6 pages of posts, I'm not going back and looking at every one. Just giving my experience, certainly it will help SOME people.
