You can use the H8 image as well, just remove the cache.img file from the tar package before flashing and you get a clean installation without the CSC. Although, the CSC doesn't really change anything. Only thing it appears to add is the APN settings for O2 Germany if you are in that network. The APN Settings are absent in finland, even with the CSC.

Are you sure that you don't have an empty battery. I've noticed a few times when the phone drains more power from the battery than the charger can provide and i've ended up with an empty battery even while the charger is connected.
Other than that, I don't have any new information for you. Try doing a factory reset on the phone (and take a nandroid backup of it before you do that), it might help.
Also, the "thud" appears to be normal. My phone does that even if it's shut down normally.
