El Presidente's info is spot on. Definitely the route I would take. Keep in mind there are also app lockers available on the market too. If you decide to root the tablet in order to get better performance, you will want to make a recovery backup for sure. That is mandatory after rooting a device and installing a recovery such as TWRP or CWM.
