I remember when PDAs were the Next Great Thing® and there were as many PDA operating systems as there were PDA manufacturers. PalmOS and Symbian EPOC were perfectly good PDA operating systems. The fact of life was that the market couldn't bear many versions of the same application program. It's hardly surprising; we go through the same thing every time there are too many competing platforms for developers to support, all the way back to the CP/M
