I recently picked up my first nexus device, the nexus 7. I came to Android from the original iPhone, for root. For control. For options. For open source.
I am not savvy with command line, though I can, and have followed plenty of instructions. But the point is not TO use it, but to be ABLE to if I want to.
This experience with a nexus device has been game-changing for me. I was an HTC fanboy until I realized the beauty of true Google. While rooted, my nexus 7 didn't really need it to be almost all I ever wanted.
Now that I'm rooted, running cm10.1 is fun, but what can I do from here?
Rooting my incredible 2 and my Eris were so liberating! Rooting my nexus 7 was a disappointing venture in a way. I can't find anywhere to go worth the time...
At least I'll get the updates all the other Verizon customers want, but will never see.
