Are the custom ringtones and notification files stored on the SD card?

If so, when the phone is connected via USB, it unmounts the SD cardto allow access to the card by the computer. You can't mount the card to the phone and the computer at the same time.

After you unplug the phone, it should revert to your selected audio files. I don't have your phone, so I might be missing something in translation. If you can't get it figured out, you might want to try and backup all of your data, and perform a factory reset.
