Perhaps you need to look at the government(s). In many places, the government is tyrannical and could care less about the people. You said it yourself: "There is more than enough food in the world to feed the entire human population." So there you go. Leave the top sirloins and baby back ribs alone.

You cannot blame animal production for this. We do quote well bringing great meats to the dinner table and we know how to effectively raise food on the hoof.
