I've never heard of someone doing a bill of sale for a cellphone either. I'd be a little hesitant but it wouldn't hurt and I'd go through with it.
If nothing else, have the rep put a note on your account saying you traded /bought the phones in good but "as is" condition.
Maybe won't hold up in court, but proof enough for Verizon
