Have you checked out the HTC Sensation forum to see if some device owners could maybe resurrect that device first.

help! my sensation keeps shutting down randomly

Just a thought, I'm not familiar with HTC phones, but it may be worth a shot before you buy a new phone only to find out the old one is an easy fix.
