I got an email when it was shipped with instructions that simply said to swap the sim.
The instructions in the box said to visit an activation URL that did not work for me.
When I called in the rep told me that the email instructions were correct since I was an existing customer and all I needed was to have my account provisioned for LTE.
YMMV.... if your new the activation URL is probably correct.
If your an existing customer swap the sim, per the rep.
If no LTE, call in and ask them to reprovision your account for LTE.
Well I'm an existing account and they sent a new SIM (box was opened and sim already installed) and I had to activate over the phone because I Stole my wife's upgrade. ( Purchased phone under one line and activated phone on another
I had 4G on my iPhone 4S
and the new Sim had 4G LTE already provisioned. I didn't understand getting the new Sim, when I could have easily used mine. It's all Good. I was just saying it's not uncommon for AT&T to open the box for you before shipment.
