Default Mail app not synching/timing out error

I went back to the stock Mail app for my POP accounts. Mainly because I prefer the "Pretty" Sense apps.

Anyway, I have it set to sync every 30 min during peak times and every 2 hours OFF peak time. However, it's not synching at all. The only way I get my POP mail is by opening the app and synching manually. Thoughts?
