I've demoed many headphones and earbuds and never found any, even at around $50, that sounded like anything I could tolerate for more than 5 minutes. My $160 Sennheisers are what I would call 'barely adequate' for my tastes, but my budget won't let me spend what I need to get what sounds truly good.
I was thinking the very same thing when I read that post. My wife has a pair of Skull Candy ear buds, and they are not good. I also have a pair of Sennheisers which, like you, I find to be borderline acceptable. But I don't listen to music via headphones anywhere near enough to warrant spending the money required to get "good" sound quality.
