Something is wrong, hopefully its just your battery and not the phone. I don't care if you stream HD video all night....with it plugged in it should still charge. So regardless of some rogue app running and syncing all the time, while plugged in, you should be golden and you weren't. Good luck and let us know if the new battery fixes it.
