You shouldn't have to do that unless it's a buggy app, and then the solution is to uninstall the app.
Edit: Looking above, most your battery is going to the screen. You indicated it was set pretty low, but I would change it to automatic. Automatic works really well, IMHO.
Also, if it's sitting on your desk I would look to see if there are things making the screen come on during the day.
