You can try flashing a rom like Wicked, that seemed to work for someone, or you can flash a different kernel like this Deviant kernel. Its the same kernel in the Wicked rom so it should work.

I've checked but can't find the stock Metro firmware yet.

btw .. if you need to root again, I updated the guide to use CF-Auto-Root. It works for the Metro S4 also. Just select the file for the T-Mobile S4.
