I really thought that I've seen a quote from Google or Qualcomm saying that the 800 specifically could handle the always on microphone. I'm not sure if that is the case though but I did think it was interesting that I had only heard it about the 800. From the Qualcomm information about the processors it looked like the biggest difference was the Adreno 330 instead of the 320.
