Default Verizon won't let me upgrade help?

Did an online chat with Verizon and couldn't solve my problem. My GN2 is not eligible for an upgrade until Nov of 2014. I want to order the GN3 and keep my same phone number. I am prepared to pay what this costs, but Verizon won't allow any of these options per the Rep:

If I pay the contract breakage fee on my current contract $260, they won't let me port my existing number to a new phone. I have to get a new number.

If I buy a new GN3 on contract, and continue to pay the contract on my GN2, they won't let me move my old phone number to the new GN3 even though I'm paying for both.

If I buy a GN3 with another carrier, they won't allow me to port my phone number to it.

Any ideas? Thanks!


*** Problem solved. I tried the Verizon Wireless website from my desktop at home and was able to upgrade and keep the same line by paying the $699.99 off contract price. I wonder why the Rep couldn't do that?
