If the wet wipe did an effective job at cleaning on the ends, maybe it would be a good candidate for the insulator strips too?
You could wrap the wet wipe of your choice around the end of a cotton swab (Q-Tip or is it a Queue-Tip in the UK ) or something else that will help direct the material to the small area. You don't want too much liquid involved though.
