Update on my Chromebook adventure.

Kubuntu is up and running and looks great. TINY, but nice. I just posted this comparison shot in the Chromebook thread--it's my new and old laptops:

I never was given partitioning choices, despite following the ChrUbuntu instructions to the letter. gParted shows a file system as I described earlier: /dev/sdaX where X=1 through 12, plus three unallocated; it reports file systems including unknown, unallocated, fat16 and ext4; there is no 'mount point' column, and each partition I've clicked on shows 'not mounted.'

Since I didn't have partitioning choices, I don't have my usual, carved in stone, partitions:

/
/home
/data
[swap]

Of course I'll be tinkering with it to see what I can do about that.

df -v shows:

/dev/root
devtmpfs
none
none
none
none
none

with /dev/root mounted on /.

Still a lot of exploring/understanding to do...
