I saw the XDA link above and I find it interesting because I always thought the other way (keeping GPS off but google location thru WiFi/data on) of location setting is more battery efficient. Doesn't it disable news/weather apps location access if location through WiFi/data is off?
This change doesn't effect any of my "data feeds." News and weather apps work just fine. What it does effect is how Google tracks your location. With WiFi and GPS enabled it uses data from both to better pinpoint your location (you are suppose to leave your WiFi on all the time with this selection).
It also doesn't impact the use of WiFi when you are connected to a router. Hope this helps.
