I updated my T-Mobile.UK Portal from 1.5 to 2.1 with no problems. Done it twice now, both with later firmwares.

Enter *#7465625#
into your phone.

I get
Network Lock
[ON]
Network Subset Lock
[OFF]
SP Lock
[OFF]
CP Lock
[OFF]
