For the awake percent, goto Menu > About Phone > Status > and then at the bottom of the next screen is the awake time.
Turn off notifications in original Messaging App; Goto the original messaging app by hitting the up arrow next to the phone button then selecting "messages". Hit menu > Settings> and uncheck Notifications.
