Also if your still having problems you could try deep cycling your battery...
but its not supposed to be done more than once every 4 months or so with lithium Ion

It's amazing that an experienced and solid hardware/software manufacturer like HTC would do something like this. Phone is awake during charging sessions? The native Messaging app screws up the phone and keeps it awake even when the screen is on "sleep"?
I sure hope that HTC and Google work on some fixes for these issues soon because getting a third party SMS app and constant phone rebooting is pretty unacceptable. I feel pretty bad for the less technically adept or all the Hero customers who are unaware of this issue. Sadly, not everyone knows to go to a forum and find solutions.
Fix this, HTC!
