Gday all,

I'm having very similar problems with my HTC Desire. I can connect to wifi networks but not be able to surf the net or used any net based applications (including android market). i've found that there is a massive thread on google's android issues forum about this - just google "android issue 1273" and it's all there. seems to be a proxy settings issue and after talking to my universities IT department they're aware of the problem as well, but no solutions.

it seems like this has been a problem throughout the android line. it simply won't do it when it comes straight out of the box (unlike fruit-manufactured mobile phones). i think u can get it to work for rooted phones but i dont have the knowledge to maintain a rooted anrdoid phone. have seen some solutions that apparently work for android phones pre 2.0 but nothing for 2.1/eclair phones anyone know of any solutions. my IT department hinted at possible third party applications that could solve this issue, anyone know of any?

on a side note i would love to know how this issue has not cropped up at all on mainstream media or even internet blogs. not once when researching for a new phone did this issue come up in reviews.
