In case you were wondering...serious newb here....I thought I had a pretty good handle on "things electronic" but I am getting dizzy. I have a Bell i7500L and I would like to upgrade to 1.6 (without wrecking my phone) and I am hoping somebody with a soft spot in their heart can kick me along the path a bit.
If I follow DaSchmarotzer's tutorial....am I missing a step? Do I need to root the phone first?...I find lots of threads about both rooting and firmware upgrades but not much crossover to relate the two.
I have downloaded the software needed and what is talked about in the tutorial is straight forward enough for me to grasp but..........or am I just making this seem harder than it really is.
I have been lurking for a while and have read up a fair bit but I think that is confusing my poor melon even more.
