I've just done this and it works perfectly, takes about 10 minutes to do.
Overall it seems like the phone is more stable and smoother in operation, we'll see how it does over time.

I tried this and it didn't work for me... did what you post Insert the sdcard to phone and press the home key and red off/on key at the same time(hold it in)
