I have 4 different email accounts. When I got the Moment, I had 2 yahoo, 1 gmail, and 1 from my internet provider. Believe it or not, they are all useful and I don't want to give any of them up.

So, after I got the moment, I set up my Gmail account for the Moment, and then set up separate emails accounts in the Moment's email app. I didn't think anything of this until I got to playing with how Android 1.5 manages mail. The gmail app is great but the email app SUCKS!

At that point, I used my gmail account only to collect voicemails from Google voice and my Magic Jack (who needs a home phone line any more?) I really didn't want to mix normal email messages in with the voice mail messages....and the Moment's email app as not cutting it. So I got thinking, maybe it was time to finally to condense into 1 or 2 vs. 4 email accounts.

So, in deciding how the new dna of my email heirarchy was going to look, I decided to open up another gmail account and make that the Gmail account tied to the Moment's gmail app.

So, in setting up the new gmail account, there was all these new features in gmail that weren't available when I originally set up my first gmail account up a couple of years ago. In gmail, there is the ability sync up to 5 email accounts via POP3 import. This works just like you set up a pop3 on the Moment. Except it converges and dumps it all into your gmail inbox and its LABELED as to what account it came from (i.e. Yahoo1, Yahoo2, etc...). Furthermore, you can set it up that when you send a reply, the reply looks as though it came from the account in which the original email was sent to (i.e.Yahoo1, Yahoo2, etc....). You can do all of this from one gmail account's inbox.

The gmail app on the Moment is much better than the pop3 email app. It allows you to manage mail efficiently and with options. When mail comes into the Moment's gmail app from Yahoo or my internet provider's email, it has a little blue LABEL that denotes which account and mail service the email landed on the Moment from. pretty cool because now I'm not flipping back and forth between 3 differnet accounts within the Moment's email app.

I had no idea this capability was in the gmail but it is...and the native gmail app in the Moment handles this really well.

So, I've bagged the sorry email app in the Moment and have everything funneling in, very efficiently, to the Moment's gmail app.

Hope this info is a revelation for someone else out there and is useful.

Got dayum, I am loving Android and the Moment more and more every day....between this find and the way Google Voice works (lets me call all land lines on my mobile without using any minutes on my cell plan), I'm a very happy camper.

How to set up a disposable Yahoo mail account (one that is free) for POP3....
Go into Yahoo mail > options > account information > under the banner account settings choose "set language, type, and time zone" > Preferred Content banner " new setting" > Yahoo Asia. I kept my time as EST.

Your POP3 settings will now be enabled. Go into gmail (via the web) Settings > Accounts and Import. From there you can funnel everything into your main gmail account and use the gmail app on the Moment to manage up to 5 separate accounts.

IF THAT DOESN"T WORK

you could also try these settings

MAKE SURE WIFI IS DISABLED

Enter your Yahoo E-Mail address and password
Press “Manual Setup” in the lower left hand corner
For “Incoming Server Settings” set the IMAP server to “imap.mail.yahoo.com” and the Port to 143
For “Outgoing Server Settings” set the SMTP Server to “smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com” and the Port to 587

If that doesnt take it change the imap server to

imap.next.mail.yahoo.com
and the smtp prot back to 25

To mount your phone as a drive on your computer you need to open the notification that appears in the notification bar on your phone and select the mount option.

If you don't get the notification, then disconnect the USB cable go to Settings -> Applications -> Development and uncheck the USB debugging option. Exit settings and connect the cable again.

3)applications
4)manage applications
5) gmail and gmail storage
6) clear data on both
7) turn off phone all the way and restart

now goto market and it will ask you to put in your gmail info...just put in the new gmail account you created....now your contacts will be gone, but if you go to your gmail account on a pc and click on contacts you should see export. Click on this and it will ask you to select a program to save it to. Then sign out and then sign in to your new account. Click on contacts on new gmail account and then contacts and then import. Contacts are switched. Goto your phone and dialer and contacts should be there. If not give it about 5-10 seconds.
