Might be extreme, but not unbelievable. One of my friends has an iPhone, and if we're speaking for over 5 minutes, the call will almost certainly get dropped at least once. Now, I don't call him 5-6 times a day, but I truly doubt that I always happen to speak to him at the only time it happens. Plus he always just calls back nonchalantly...he's come to expect it.
This is not to say this is the norm for all iPhone users; I have friends in other parts of the city who, while they acknowledge it's not a great network and they get some dropped calls, it's not that bad.
