I've been using Launcher Pro for a week and don't have any fc issues. This is the first launcher replacement that I haven't had problems with and dumped after a day or two. I doubt there's any significant battery hit for a launcher replacement barring some poor coding by it's developer. For increased battery life and performance,
consider rooting and flashing a hacked rom. I don't use a task killler, but I do have
system panels kill all widget on one of my home screens just in case something goes awry. Have fun!
