As the Title says OFFICIAL Cyanagenmod 7.2 is here!!! The aim of this thread is to let you know about how to install, remove, report any bugs and anything else that is relavant.
Before you install its very important that you make note of your current firmware version and baseband should you want to go back. Carrier branded firmwares are harder to find than generic and it will be essential you know what it is exactly (See uninstall section about checkfusdownloader.exe)
2 - You'll need ClockworkMOD recovery 5 (NOT ROM MANAGER) HERE
3 - Boot into recovery (turn phone on holding home key) and choose .zip from SD card. Select the CWM zip you just downloaded and apply.
4 - Go to Galaxy ace Cyanagenmod 7.2 download and download the file. Place on SD card. IMPORTANT - our device is known as cooper on Cyanagen site, not ACE - that is the HTC Desire HD - using ace will kill your phone, use COOPER!!
6 - Reboot into recovery, perform factory reset, wipe cache partition, and wipe dalvik cache (from advanced menu).
7 - Select update from .zip and select the Cyanagen ROM file. Wait until done then do the same with the Gapps.
8 - Reboot phone and VOILA! You have the official CM 7.2.
Notes
This is a nightly build so there are a few bugs. These are as follows:
1- Torch does not work
2- Screen does not come back on after a call (goes to main menu)
3- When WIFI is on the menu and back buttons blink when screen off
4- some people say FM radio does not pick up UK stations (mine does tho)
Nightly builds are released every now and then and just need flashing over the top - the idea is that improvements are made and bugs are fixed. At the moment we have a very stable, Very fast ROM which for a first nightly is fantastic. Battery is best for CM ROM i have used.
Please note although the battery is best for CM rom it will never be as good as stock. There is no task killer widget so be careful to end apps properly so they dont hog battery.
Uninstalling
If you want to go back to your stock ROM from this, there is a bit of a process involved. If you made a CWM backup you cannot simply restore it as CM7.2 uses the EXT4 filesystem and stock uses RFS.
To revert to factory settings you'll need to download your firmware from somewhere like sammobile.com or similar site. This site does not contain many carrier branded firmwares (like vodafone, 3 etc) so look for a program called checkfusdownloader.exe as this can find them if you made a note of what u need. And youll need ODIN and the cooper.ops file.
Go to Cyanagenmod Downloads For the latest version. Most bugs should have now been fixed. Report any you find in this thread and I will feed them back. (please DO NOT) report bugs with 3rd party apps, or if you have used a modified kernel in anyway!)
Looking at the CM download page, there have been 2 new official nightlies. They should be adressing the bugs but i have not been able to test them as I have given my Ace to my Stepson as I now have a Galaxy Note. Will get him to test and report back to me!
UPDATE 16/04
Kolja Dumman (CM Maintainer) is working on Android and CM again. He has been asking a few to test new builds and is addressing the issues from the official versions. Slaid480 has also been given access to the Jenkins Buildbot (CM auto nightly buildbot) so expect a stable final release is not too far away!
Just come to my notice that the Nightlys below might not be acutally official. Stick with the post above if you want totally official. Will update as I hear more. The ones listed below do have less bugs thought!
-Patched For Clear/Better Cam/recording and Better Sensors Too
-Fixed Some few Issue
-Faster than Old Nightly Builds
Torch now works
No button lights randomly coming on
Proximity Sensor Now works.
More updates as and when I find them.
03/04/2012 We have an official maintainer!!!
What does this mean? Well it means that Slaid (XDA developer) is now part of the CM team and will be pushing the updates in the form of Nightlys
One was released yesterday and another one on its way tonight. They will eventually be available from the usual Cyanagenmod page (See above) but for now head over to the original xda thread HERE
More updates as and when I get them!
Update : New release update-cm-7.2.0-RC1.
Having flashed this version last night. These Bugs Still remain:-
1 - Torch Does not work.
2 - Menu and back button light up randomly when Screen off and WIFI on.
3 - No Torch in Video Camera
4 - Proximity sensor issues when calling.
I have found no other bug. (as of yet) but will keep trying. I have noticed that these two official versions do away with the 3 major issues in the KANG versions.
1 - Lock onto GPS is very quick.
2 - Wifi Scans and locks quicker.
3 - Battery Drain is a lot better.
ROM manager is included and some on XDA have been testing it and so far no Bricked aces. look HERE and read the whole post. I personally have removed it with Titanium backup as dont trust it.
Will post any more updates as and when they come.

Hey guys, I've been quite tempted to try this out I've now heard it's near stable but my Ace is locked to the o2 network & I've read some were that you should only use o2 based firmwares on o2 phones. Is this true?
To backup apps and their data, nothing is as useful as titanium backup pro. It can even restore market links. Don't backup system data (except wifi access points) though.
Sry for the dum question (im a newAce user) so im quite new to a ll the rom, odin and flashing stuff
so what does this do? Does it make my mobile faster? In gaming i mean no lags and stuff
Ty in advance
Does this have deep sleep? If so how do you get it to work as ive installed cpu spy but its not showing anything under deep sleep. I dont have the nightly rom installed i have cyanogenmod-7.2.0-RC1-cooper
Next day edit.. Deep sleep is installed and working.

But in a nutshell. Root phone. Install Clockworkmod Recovery (5.0.2.6). Run Backup. Install Titanium Backup. Backup User apps.
When you want to reinstall - Download any gingerbread stock rom, odin and cooper.ops file (see above). Flash stock rom using odin. This will give you a stock rom with correct file system (rfs). Root and install cwm again. Run restore.
If need to run TiBu for apps (they should have been restored with CWM backup though)
Hello, I followed this guide and my phone got bricked when using the backup function in ClockWorkMod Recovery (downloaded from the link in the first post). I tried flashing it with Heimdall without success. Did this happen to anyone else ? How do I know if my phone is hard bricked just like what seem to happen with ROM Manager ? Thanks for your answers.
Did you sucessfully root before running the backup?
Hemidall is for the galaxy S series of phones (the ace is not one of them)
If you can get to download mode flash a rom via odin and it should bring your phone back to life. Good news is it sounds different from hard bricking (like with rom manager) as you can get to download mode.
Good luck

Hello, i'm a newbie at these things but i've heard a few good reviews about this ROM, so i tried it out. Thankfully, i managed to root it successfully without any problem it is really fast, but the only problem is that i can't get my bluetooth, WiFi and torch to work and the Play Store wouldn't open either, it keeps asking me to 'Force Close'! What should i do?? Since i don't know what to do, I have thought of going back to Gingerbread but i'm scared i might do something wrong and end up bricking my phone, plus i forgot to take note of my phone's firmware version and baseband!! i have bought this phone at the same time with my sister, so does it have the same firmware version and baseband?
And i've seen many cool looking themes for CM7 in some sites but i haven't figured out how to install them yet. Would you kindly give me a step by step instruction? Thanks in advance!!

i have also read that ROM Manager is usually the main cause why their phones were bricked, this is why i got so worried when i saw it on my phone. is it going to cause a problem anytime soon? should i delete it?

p.s. i am sorry if my english is poor..
DELETE ROM MANAGER
Re Flash the rom with a complete wipe first, this should remove your force closes.
Most probably your firmware would the same as your sister's phone, but it doesn't matter, you can just flash the latest firmware via Odin.
Also don't forget your system is .ext now, you will need to flash via Odin if you want to return to a stock rom, don't just flash any stock rom via CWM.
As far as themes are concerned, you will need to get CM themes from the net, there are lots available and you can just install them like apps and then apply them using the Theme Chooser app already available in your rom.

thank you for your answer! i'll be deleting ROM Manager with my titanium backup in a bit
this may sound dumb but how do i "re flash the rom with a complete wipe"?
i found a few that i like.. i get it now after a lot of thinking, i've decided to stay with this ROM. thank you!!
Goto cwm and wipe system, partition and dalvik cache....then go to mounts and wipe data, system and cache, then install zip.
But if you really want a fresh installation then first flash a new firmware via Odin and then flash this rom via CWM. This one is the best way but who has the time to flash via Odin everytime
so that obviously mean i have to backup my datas such as my apps, contacts, etc and all that again using titanium backup right? lol sorry too many questions, just wanted to make sure
There seems to be two different CM7 download links now, one in the first post and one in the xda link in the second post. Whats the difference between them?

The link on the 1st post is for the cyanogen's download section and the link in the 2nd post will take you to slaid480's post on xda about the new nightlies. Its basically the same thing but the xda link has mirrored rom so it'll be easier to download from there.

Here's the link for the latest official nightly update by the original maintainer.. CyanogenMod Downloads
I've been using this update over a day now & I only found two things wrong with this rom so far..
When I try to charge when phone is switched off the phone automatically switch itself back on.
The FM radio doesn't work.
Other then them two small bugs all else works good!!
my Play Store still keeps on force closing i've reflashed the rom twice. at first it runs normally, but after i open it a few times, it will suddenly tell me to force close. other than that, there seems to be no problem..

i have flashed my ace and i carnt send music files via bluetooth but can send pics dont know y any help would be nice please and can i flash my ace again or just add files to sd card and install from there
Reflash means reinstalling the ROM. Stock is the official firmware (if your asking this you might want to read up on custom ROM's as you can brick your.phone if your not careful.
Don't zoom on camera, set to highest resolution and crop the image.

Done!
I was tempted to try CM7.2 but here is the problem.
You specifically advised not to backup and resotre system data other than wifi?
The problem is its a no go for me if I cannot backup and restore my sms/contacts, I ideally also want to restore my system settings as well as it took quite a while to configure my phone how I like it although not as essential as the sms and contacts, thoughts on this?
I cant find documentation anywhere on how to import sms/contacts (not using google contacts is messy).
I tried restoring from titanium backups but they dont appear, this is a showstopper so sadly if I cant get all my stored messages imported I will have to go back to stock and see if I can pay the CM dev's to add a import tool of some sort.
