Default Getting rid of emails in the deleted or trash folder

Not a problem with the incoming mail and other folders, just check the box beside the email and select the trash can icon..however, with the deleted email folder, the little boxes appear beside (300 odd msgs) but there is no trash can icon

Never mind, the trash bin icon came back when I tried it later
