Unhappy Tablet won't save new files

I'm new to the tablet world and have ran into an issue. Just before Xmas my tablet quit saving new files. No pictures, videos, apps, nothing. I can take pictures or download apps but as soon as i power down they disappear. I have some pictures that are on there from before this started happening. I've tried to do a factory reset (the whole power button volume button thing) but that didn't work, it said it was erasing data but when it powered up my pictures and apps from before were still there. Not sure what else to do.

Default

have you tried:

1. Switch off
2. Press Vol-up + Power
3. When display lights up: Release power but hold vol-up
3. Toggle Lock switch (On>Off>On>Off)

Screen will display:

Erasing Userdata..
Erasing Cache..
