non rooted ics

I have non rooted ics leak on my acer Acer_AV041_A500_1.031.00_WW_GE N1 Can I update to other mods ics roms or do I need to root?
If I can any suggestions

I would assume you'd have to root for any mods, but I don't really know for sure. Why would you want to mod if you have ICS?
