Default a few settings I can't find anymore

After I updated to ICS I can't find the auto rotate setting every time an app turns the screen in portrait it will not turn back until I reboot, so does anyone know how to turn auto rotate back on?

And is there a way to turn the pattern unlock off?

In settings , go to Display, and the option to enable auto rotate should be there.
For the lock screen, go to Security, Lock screen, and then Screen Lock to disable the pattern lock.

You may be seeing a problem with the current version of A500 ICS that appears to be caused by killing apps. Start by removing any task/app killing apps, removing any apps that force close, and avoid using the ICS App Manager to force close apps. You should be able to then clear the problem by using the pinhole reset switch to do a hard reset of the system (just press it with a paper clip while the system is on). The reset is only a temporary solution though if you still have apps being killed and/or force closed, so take care of that as soon as possible.

That's the first place I checked. It's not there sadly.

I don't use task killers and I usually don't bother manually killing apps unless it is acting up. Don't think that has to do with my problem.

From what I could see, task managers/killers are not the only cause, but are an obvious one. There are also apps not specifically marketed as app killers that contain task management functionality --e.g., Android Assistant. It also may be caused by an app that just force closed because of a problem, or an app that you uninstalled, a process which also appears to force close apps.

Regardless of the cause, you can see if this MLUpdateData error (code 26) is causing your auto rotate problem by installing aLogcat from the Market. If you see that error, then you probably are running some problematic app that is in turn triggering this OS problem. My guess without looking into that any deeper is that it may be a sensor driver problem, which is blocking accelerometer data, and preventing auto rotate.

The pinhole reset will clear the condition until a problematic app causes it again by force closing itself, or killing some other app. Unless you have a hardware problem, which seems unlikely if you were OK on Honeycomb, then this is probably being triggered by a problematic app that you have installed (or recently removed). Again, the OS should handle this better, and Acer will likely have to fix it, but what I have provided here and in my other post is a way for folks to recognize a major trigger, and work around it.

Settings -> Security -> Screen Lock ...

Enter your pattern or pin, and the settings are then unlocked. You can't change security settings without first authenticating -- I.e., if you had pattern lock on, you have to enter your pattern first before you can make any security setting changes. After you enter your correct pattern, pin or password, and then select continue, you can choose None, Slide, Pattern, PIN or Password.

Also, when I sent my reply about the auto rotate issue that many are seeing, I may have mistakenly assumed that you did not have the screen orientation switch set to lock. On the top of the a500, the little slide switch next to the volume control locks screen orientation at the current position. Sliding it left unlocks the screen. Sliding it to the right locks it. If it was set to the right, auto rotate would not work. Is that what you were really looking for?

I had to do a factory reset to get my machine to work after the update. Waybtoo mant things were buggy.I thought I had all my apps backed up but turned out I didn't, which in a way may have been a good thing. As I tried to reinstall all the apps I had, alot of them said they weren't available for this version of Android. So I can't help but wonder if maybe alot of the app problems you folks are having are just a matter of that they just won't work with ICS.
